Spectrum Networks was originally founded as Spectrum Consulting in 1991. In its early days, Spectrum Consulting built and maintained the Australian Public Access Network Association, Australia’s first public ISP, which operated from a backyard garage with a bank of dial-up modems and a 128Kbps link to the internet.

By 1994, Spectrum Consulting was entrusted with creating one of Australia’s first commercial ISPs, known as Microplex. By 1995, Microplex had grown to become one of the largest ISPs in the country. In 1998, Cable & Wireless Optus acquired Microplex. 

A year later, in 1999, Spectrum Consulting rebranded as Spectrum Networks Pty Ltd, marking a new chapter in its journey.With over three decades of experience, Spectrum Networks stands as one of the original and longest-running ISPs in Australia.
